Pittsburgh Sports Article of the Week

This week wasn't been a huge week on the field, rink, park, etc. for Pittsburgh Sports, but has definitely been a week of money and trades. With the Pirates active in MLB trading, and the Penguins focusing on a Free Agency as we speak, as well as signing Guerin and Adams earlier this week, I figure it's fitting to feature an article in the realm of the behind the scene fuel for sports-money.

In this week's Pittsburgh Sports Article, "Tough Choice for Scuderi", Ron Cook of the Post-Gazette takes a look at the back and forth for players, in this case in the NHL, for taking the money or taking the chance to win. Focusing on Scuderi in this article, while making references to Ryan Malone and other transactions, Cook tries to highlight the dilemma that a player faces, especially when leaving a very accomplished team-and for Scuderi, a team that raised him.

Scuderi is testing the market as I write.

The article represents both sides of the argument very well, but shows Ryan Malone as a flop. Just when you think Cook is going to strongly support taking a pay cut, he goes to his other hand. The article gives mad, but deserved respect to Brooks Orpike-a guy that took a huge paycut last year to stay with the pens. Hey, look where he is. Bam.
